Ursula
Ursula is perfectly aware of your little prophesy, thankyouverymuch. Yes, yes, she knows you’re the Chosen One of the week, and she’s very happy for you. She really is. Congratulations to you and your parents and village and your cute little animal sidekick. She knows you’re here to seek her counsel on a matter that will decide the fate of the world, yes, everything hangs in the balance. As usual. This isn’t her first apocalypse.

Azuroh
Azuroh is a Nimbodrac: a species of tiny, cat-like dragons, air spirits charged with herding the clouds around the sky. Batting the soft, cottony wisps around the sky like yarn, the wisps snowball together until they form clouds, and the clouds roll together until they turn heavy and grey and finally break into a storm. With chirps and chatters of excitment, the Nimbodracs go cartwheeling between the bolts.

Muse
Muse is one of many minor spirits presiding over some aspect of life on the Mortal Plane. The “Big Ones”, like War, Love, Storms etc are all taken by higher-ups, of course. Small spirits like Muse handle more subtle things. Her domain is Inspiration. She’s the manic spark of a new idea, and the proverbial lightning you can never bottle. She’s the slow, steady years poured into a masterpiece. The desire to turn “what if?” into “Look at this!”

Ignatius
Ignatius gro Krönax III slithered out of his eggshell, bright eyed and fiery-tailed the moment he was born. Chipper and enthusiastic with boundless energy, he may be adorable now, but he is a dragon. In a few years–how many depends on the food supply, could be thousands, could be five–he’ll have lost his baby fur and attained his adult size: at least as tall as a residential apartment block. His father, Krönax gro Urug VII, a lawyer at a Bay Street firm in Toronto, is roughly the size of the SkyDome.

Salamandro Del Fuego
A little fire dragonling that perches on my shoulder. He gives terrible advice in 3 different languages (English, Spanish, & Dovahzuul) and his round & luminous eyes can stare a hole directly into your soul and out the other side.–Hollow Sculpy head with needlefelted body. Poured resin glow-in-the-dark eyes. Thanks to LEDs behind them inside the head, they also glow in the light. The LEDs are powered by a USB rechargeable power bank, which is hidden in a pocket of the fishing vest. The wire runs from Salamandro’s armpit, under the vest’s epaulet, between the vest and its net lining, and finally to the battery pocket.
Levi (short for Leviathan)
The trophy head of a sea monster mounted on a burnt wooden plank. He sits dark and silent as a watery grave, at least until the warmth of the living wanders too close…
–Originally created for Toronto’s 2022 Nuit Blanche with the makerspace Site 3 coLaboratory . Needlefelted skin over a wire frame, with 3d printed teeth & LED strips controlled by an Arduino. Triggered by an IR sensor detecting passersby and featured a threatening roar.
Re-Furb the L O N G Furby
A Hallowe’en 2024 project made from an original 90’s furby found in the group donation bin over at Site 3 . The eyes are glow-in-the-dark poured resin & the eyelashes have Blacklight glow. Moved the battery& reset button to the end of the tail + gave Furby a quiet switch + EL strings in the head + LED strip down the mane: 6 AA’s & a USB power bank. Wires run inside a mole-tube body.
Zephyr
Zephyr is a baby North American Gryphon, half wolf cub and half owlet. The birth of a new North American Gryphon is a fateful event, since, as each one can live so many thousands of years, their population is necessarily small. There only ever a few alive at any one time, and Zephyr is currently the youngest despite being many times over the age of the oldest human. Because of their unimaginably long lives, these animals have an unearthly quality about them, combining youthful energy with a wry sense of ancient wisdom.

Felix
Equal parts lion, goat, and rooster, Felix is a Chimera– Strange creatures, whose biology is not well understood. People say the Gods make them one at a time, instead of using a mold like the other creatures, with the spare parts from minting fresh batches of other animals. Science says it’s their DNA: first, it is a triple helix. Second, instead of the T/A C/G sets, they basically run through the whole alphabet, and in some sub-species, start on numbers.
